WOW, I wish every teacher would view this video. I want my students involved. I'm still working on it though. I plan on sharing this with as many teachers as I can. Thanks Meg.

Meri,
This is one of my favorite stories!
I was asked to do a lunch time keynote at a conference, maybe 15-18 minutes. I knew I needed to grab them with some multimedia and deliver a message in a powerful way. I challenged my kids and the neighbors to create a movie to speak to their teachers. I promised them that if they created this for me, I would show it to THEIR teachers at school! This was super powerful for them, really they would see the movie (yes, as the school board prez, I could pull that off!)
They really were so empowered by this!! The movie turned out to be absolutely nothing that I asked for or thought would happen! they loved it, and I grew to love it!!
This was very powerful, not polished but really amazing! They still love to watch it over and over!
My recent tech camps produced some amazing videos we posted to NING videos, click on the video tabs to look at teh amazing variety!
back to your question, my son had made a video for a book report, he taught his friends how to do this!! I supervised!

Yes, yes... I loved this, Meg! Did you make this with the kids...or did they make it and then give it to you?

Very Good! But wouldn't it be noisy and edgy in a room where kids were engaged? How would teachers get their work done?
I actually had a teacher, well meaning, by the way, tell me that he used the misery index as an assessment of his instructional effectiveness - As the kid's misery level rose, he knew he was on the right track - if they appeared talkative and lively, he knew that they just weren't getting it....sad, but a true story.
I work in a high school for "at risk" students. They are at risk of dropping out because they are bored to tears. I have seen funeral homes with more engagement potential.......worksheets and packets, and the teachers complain that "These kids just aren't interested in learning!" I know, let's put together more packets, that'll motivate them!

Testing Notes on Tech Camp

Just in from my Twitter network that this notes section will act like a wiki, I am here to investigate and think about how I can use this as part of tech camp.
