- A little about you
- I was the former Instructional Technology Coordinator for the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District in Holland, Michigan. In that role I helped to organize the Michigan Handheld Computers in Education Conferences and the Connecting and Collaborating Conference: Online Tools for the Classroom.

Before the Holland position I was a Technology Director and teacher for Caledonia Community Schools for 12 years. Caledonia was one of the first districts in the state to use Macintosh computers and provide Internet access.
I’ve been involved with 1:1 initiatives and champion Internet safety education. I’ve presented on Internet safety and cyberbullying in districts and at conferences across Michigan. I am a Blackboard and Discovery Educator/United Streaming trainer.
- Hobbies or activities?
- I’ve been an ultra-distance athlete, skiing in the North American Birkebeiner www.birkie.com cross country ski race, running marathons and swimming across the Chesapeake Bay. My first love is cycling. I met my wife on a Lung Association fund raiser bike ride. We have taken our tandem and bike toured on our own in Ireland, the Netherlands, and Portugal (our honeymoon.)
We have three young children, ages 2, 4, and 5 ½ so my athletic pursuits have changed into biking with children. Our 2 year old daughter was born on Father’s Day…delivered in our bedroom as we didn’t make it to the hospital in time!
