I was having trouble with an idea yesterday before I left class, but on the way home, I came up with my idea! I am going to make a motivational video about success for kids...to help them believe in themselves--that I will show them at the beginning of the year. It'll be geared for 4-8 probably. I'm going to use ideas from my most recent favorite book that I've read.

Right now, I'm more eager to learn how to use the software, than thinking about a final product.

Avra,
What is you most favorite book?

I am hoping to create a first day of school movie about why math is important. Maybe it will help down the road with the constant "Why do we need to know this?" I hope it can be interesting and funny so they will see math more the way I do...fascinating and fun.

I have a project started last week in imovie. I have never done this before and Rich is helping me. It is a short movie about what beginnning reading looks like in firtst grade. The teachers who requested it will use it at Open House.

Meg,

I'm still struggling with what I want to do. I feel like I really need to work out a plan on paper (ugh!) before committing something on the computer.

Maybe I can just play around today and see where things lead. Once I feel confident with the process I can feed in content several times over the summer to create what I will use.

I am worried about investing a great deal of time that I really should be spending elsewhere. It is encouraging to hear some people completing projects quickly.

Thanks for your encouragement!
Mary

I would like to create something that I can use in the classes I will teach this fall. English should be easy to connect to.

I spent about an hour last night thinking about what I was going to do for this project. I looked back at all of my lesson plans from my master's courses and my student teaching but nothing really grabbed me. I thought alot about my own life and what I have done which might have impacted the lives of others. In doing this I realized I had a whole wealth of ideas which might not only give others ideas for projects but also send a message to my students. I decided to either do a movie on my brother-in-laws experience in Iraq, or my mission trip to New Orleans last year. Either one of these can give students ideas on how they can help other people in need even if only by doing the smallest of actions (i.e. volunteer work, writing letters, etc).

I have a few ideas regarding my science video, but nothing has really come together yet. I'd like to stay within the curriculum so I'm thinking about an environmental topic. I always have a hard time getting started because this is so new to me.

Jennifer and I have two projects in the works. One is a type of local historical tour, the second one is a community connection with senior citizens, doing an interview with and then making a multi-media presentation of.

I spent time taking pictures for my virtual history walk of Oregon.

Just in from my Twitter network that this notes section will act like a wiki, I am here to investigate and think about how I can use this as part of tech camp.
